ANDROID QUICK SHARE ADDS TAP-TO-EXCHANGE

Android users can now share photos, videos, contact information, and other files by opening the share sheet menu and tapping two devices together. The feature leverages NFC and proximity detection to simplify wireless transfers without requiring manual pairing or internet connections. Google announced the rollout begins immediately for Pixel 6 series devices and later. Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Fold 8, and Flip 8 will receive the feature soon. Quick Share's tap-to-exchange capability directly mirrors Apple's AirDrop functionality, which has offered similar seamless sharing between nearby devices for years. The addition makes Quick Share more competitive by reducing the steps needed to transfer files between Android devices and potentially across the broader ecosystem as more manufacturers adopt compatible technology.
