Apple has opened FaceTime to non-Apple platforms, allowing Android and Windows users to participate in calls initiated by iPhone, iPad, or Mac owners. How it works: Android and Windows users receive a link to join a FaceTime call via text, email, or calendar invite. Clicking the link opens the call in a web browser—no app installation required. What to know: While joining calls is straightforward, the web-based experience lacks some features available to Apple device users. Screen sharing, portrait mode effects, and spatial audio remain limited on browser versions. The move expands FaceTime's reach beyond Apple's ecosystem, making it more competitive with cross-platform services like Google Meet and Zoom. iPhone users can generate shareable FaceTime links through the Phone app, allowing them to invite anyone regardless of device.
