GOOGLE ADDS AI SKILLS TO CHROME FOR SAVED WORKFLOWS

TUE, APR 14, 2026Google is rolling out Skills to Chrome, a new feature that lets users save and reuse their favorite Gemini AI prompts across websites. The capability makes it faster to repeat common tasks without rewriting instructions.
Google has launched Skills in Chrome, enabling users to store frequently-used Gemini prompts for quick access on desktop. The feature integrates with Chrome's existing Gemini sidebar, streamlining repetitive workflows.
Skills eliminate the need to retype the same instructions multiple times. Users can save a prompt once and apply it across different websites. Google provided examples of practical applications: calculating protein content in recipes or creating side-by-side comparisons of products.
The rollout began today and will expand across Chrome's desktop user base. The feature builds on Google's broader integration of Gemini into Chrome, which previously allowed users to access the AI assistant directly within the browser.
Prebuilt Skills are also available through the Gemini sidebar, offering users ready-made options for common tasks like recipe optimization and YouTube video summarization. This combination of custom and preset Skills gives users flexibility in how they interact with AI in the browser.
The addition reflects Google's strategy to embed AI capabilities into everyday tools. By making AI workflows more efficient, the company aims to increase adoption of Gemini among Chrome users.
