NEW JERSEY SUES AMAZON OVER DELIVERY CONTRACTOR CONTROL

The New Jersey Attorney General's office accuses Amazon of using its market dominance to impose unfair terms on Delivery Service Partners (DSPs)—independent contractors who handle last-mile package delivery. According to the suit, Amazon controls pricing, operational decisions, and customer service standards while classifying DSPs as independent businesses to avoid employer obligations. The complaint alleges Amazon penalizes contractors who don't comply with demands and uses algorithmic systems to maintain this control. The lawsuit seeks to stop Amazon's allegedly anticompetitive practices and recover damages.
