Valve announced the price increases on its official Steam Deck website, effective immediately. The company attributed the hikes to "rising memory and storage costs" affecting the handheld gaming device.
The 256GB LCD model remains unchanged at $349, making it the only option at the original entry-level price point. The OLED models, introduced in late 2023, represented Valve's premium offering with a brighter display and improved battery life.
The 512GB OLED represents a 44% price increase, while the 1TB model's $300 jump marks a 46% increase—significantly outpacing typical inflation. These are among the largest price adjustments Valve has made since the Steam Deck's October 2021 launch.
Memory and storage component costs have fluctuated over the past year, with NAND flash pricing showing volatility in global markets. The increases align with broader semiconductor industry trends, though specific cost breakdowns were not disclosed.
Valve did not announce any hardware changes accompanying the price increases. The OLED models continue to feature the same 1TB and 512GB storage configurations introduced at their original launch prices.
